New Ria Sketches

What we call the " AR Edition " are the start of the Universe of " The Lightclan Chronicles " with the first limited print of the first Volume " Ria-Seed of Hope ". We are finishing the Pages and going for print next week. Here are some new sketches I did for the production and a redesign of a character called " Enial"

Ria Weekend

Its weekend, what Im doing:

Yeah sitting at my home office

and drawing on " Ria "

Yeah, nights getting longer and weekends shorter as Im up to my neck in work on the first Ria Volume " Seed of Hope ". First release will be in Germany at the Comic Salon Erlangen at the Stenarts Ltd. booth. Its hard work to get everything looking good especially regarding such a complex world like the Legend of Light universe of Ria.

In collaboration with Stenarts Ltd. and empea we striving for a AR-Comic Edition where some little surprises will make it worth the wait for the first release. Check regulary the Ria Blog as we will going to update it more often. 1. of May a cool trailer goes online at the official Ria Website, at the moment the site is forwarded to the Ria Blog, but this change soon.

Warm ups for Feature Film!

When starting a new project, sometimes I start with warm ups even so if I´m not sure if I will get the job or not. I think its most important to make a use of the most emotional inspiring part when getting in touch the first time with a new content my service are asked for. Here are some warm ups done for a client in Germany, Berlin before any contract had been signed. I was working on those Character Concepts in my spare time and just did some really rough design concepts for a some panda bears. I was then afterwards hired for initial Character Concepts on this production but the most fun I had working on those warm ups :D

Da Galaktik One!

Yeah! Finally I got the permission from Cartoon One to show some of my Character Designs I did for one of their Projects. I dont want to say anything about it at all as it is still in work but its damn cool to show you some of the stuff which I like a lot and shows my Star Wars passion.
Here you can also see some of the poses I tried with the longbeard Character which I really like a lot as he could do some funny moves and actions with is long beard. I Love this stuff a lot, hope you gonna like it too :D

A big Thank you! to Silvia Coscia Head of Production/Producer at Cartoon One, without her I wouldnt be able to show you any of this stuff here :D And of Course Thanks to Da Master Fabian Schlaga for the cool help on the colors, here is a great big hug for ya :D

Continuing with Pencils for Ria Vol.1

After to much work on a Cintiq Wacom it was hard to get back to drawing with a pencil and even so to get back to the Ria Pages and the overall style of the Graphic Novel. Here are some of the work on Page 21 where you can see how I normally work on a page. Usual there are various and countless sketches I have to do until Im happy with the result of the composition and posing of a character. That makes it hard to be fast enough with the pages but I want to have all characters acting in a way shwoing their personality right. The two characters with the big rabbit ear like tentacles are really hard to draw " Rasal " and " Usar " do look simple to
but are hard to pose I can tell you :D

Moving on with " Ria"

It has long been rumoured about the Project " RIA ", but with the help of Fabian Schlaga for color and the Stenarts Ltd. for getting partners on board to push that project on to other plattforms like Game and Animation, we are back on track! Within the next couple of month we try to push the pages the best we can. Fabian has been busy because he started to study in London and continues to do so in Germany now. I had been busy getting the Stenarts Ltd. formed and so we both decided to have a break for a while as it wouldnt be the same if someone else does the color or pencils and as in fact its our baby so we wouldnt do so anyway.

We possible open another blog for Ria to keep you updated, so come back once in a while to check out how the project proceed.

Nintendo DS Colors

I bought a Nintendo DS and now painting everywhere on my little Cintiq. This is one of my first paintings and its really cool to use the program for getting ideas nailed down.

The program has been developed by Jens Andersson,
at his website they say:

" Colors! is a simplistic digital painting application for Nintendo DS based on modern painting-techniques developed for drawing tablets in programs like Photoshop. By taking advantage of the pressure sensitivity of the DS touch-screen it becomes a
perfect portable digital sketch-book. "
And yes it is as they said a perfect portable digital sketchbook.

After I succeeded my theory test for my driving license, I do have more time at the evenings and will update more often images painted on this small machine.
